Tucked away up a small side street, but only minutes walk from the Cathedral we happened on L’Anchoiade by accident and a lucky one it turned out to be!

The restaurant is fairly small, well decorated and spotlessly clean. The menus are concise and a range of specials was also featured on blackboards dotted around. The star of the show were the Parilladas – we both opted for the beef which was perfectly cooked, succulent and some of the tastiest cuts I can remember eating. The fish looked equally tempting and providing a very good reason for a return visit.

They really do make the most of seasonal fresh local produce and all meat served originates from France, while the fish is sourced from nearby Concarneau.

A small wine list is available – you make your selection from the hand-written menu, another quirky feature of this lovely little restaurant. Homemade desserts finished off our meal perfectly.

Service was charming attentive and unhurried – spot-on. L’Anchoiade is a great local French restaurant and excellent value for money – highly recommended.
