Located next to Tate Modern is this new addition to the Conran portfolio. Light, bright and airy with tremendous views of St Paul’s Cathedral and the imposing former power station turned gallery, the Albion is a stylish and appealing mix of café/bar/restaurant with the added bonus of a food market thrown in for good measure.

We went on Sunday lunchtime when the atmosphere was lively but relaxed; amazingly friendly and efficient service was unhurried and just the right side of slow. We opted for the shared charcuterie board which comprised a selection of some of the tastiest meats I’ve enjoyed, all accompanied by Brian’s Pickles (outstanding) and fabulously fresh breads, together with a side order of fries and washed down with a small carafe of Syrah.

We managed to resist being tempted by the display of delicious cakes, reasoning that this would encourage a return visit sooner rather than later!

This was a real weekend treat, super value for money and we will definitely be back to sample the mouth-watering grill menu, or maybe something from the Albion classics, and of course not forgetting those exquisite cakes…
